Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi 1755

Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi 1755

Carlo Ferdinando Landolphi "Ex Gérard Poulet" violin 1755 is now in stock.
It was loved and played by a renowned violinist Gérard Poulet at many concerts until recently.
Carlo Fedinando Landolphi, one of great violin makers in history, was born in 1710. In 1749, he moved from Baveno to Milan where violin making industry was seeing its standoff as the power of the Testore Family was declining, and then he gave a big momentum to violin making there to prosperity with G. B. Guadagnini. This model has great influence from G. B. Guadagnini, but clearly shows independence of any Intalian school of those days. He presented various styles of production through his life. They were so extremely various that some connoisseurs said there must have been another maker of the same name in his lifetime.
This instrument, made in 1755, was the top of Landolphi’s masterpieces of his golden period in Milan with maturity as a craftsman. Clad in orange brown varnish under which the golden brown base lies, the old Italian real gem sounds rich, deep and warm in its low tones and clear and gorgeous in its high tones in powerful volume. We will welcome your coming to try it.

Ansaldo Poggi 1929

ModernSOLD
Ansaldo Poggi 1929

Ansaldo Poggi 1929, Fiorini style of an excellent Stradivari copy, is now in stock.
A violin of Poggi’s golden period at the age of 36. Highest techniques with delicacy to produce clear tone.
From one year before this violin, he began to use a label with his name on it.
In 1929, he received a gold medal at a violin making competition.
He did not take in outer molds that was the main stream of violin making in Bologna in those days, but mostly made instruments with inner molds that was a traditional technique in Cremona in 1600s. It was because his teacher, Giuseppe Fiorini purchased inner molds, that was an inheritance from Stradivari, from Count Cozio di Salabue and studied production methods with them. Ansaldo Poggi’s style is said to be the closest to Stradivari’s among violin makers’ of the 20th century.
It has been loved by many violinists and has lived for years to attain the beauty that we can see and listen to now. We will welcome your coming to try it.

A very precious Fagnola 1931 has joined our stock, which was featured on p.126 of “Count Cozio of Salabue: Violin Making and Collecting in Piedmont” published in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Count Cozio of Salabue’s birth, who was known worldwide as a collector in the eighteenth century.
Its tone and power are extraordinary, compared with the other Fagnola’s pieces. No other violin would fascinate both players and collectors.

Ansaldo Poggi 1956

Ansaldo Poggi 1956, clad in beautiful golden brown varnish, is now in stock.
A Stradivari copy of masculine robustness, with an arch of ripen feeling.
A violin in his sixties, that is called his second golden period with maturity as a craftsman, when he got independent of his teacher Fiorini’s influence and established his own characters.
On the instruments of those days, his delicacy in materials can be seen. It is said that he liked to use old wood discarded from the reconstruction of old churches. After a chronological investigation with today’s technology, we now know his instruments of those days were made of about 300 year old wood.
It has been loved by David Oistrakh and many other violinists, and still holds its name celebrated. We will welcome your coming to try it.

Antonio Stradivari 1732 Red Diamond

Found by Luigi Tarisio, who was known as a violin collector in the early nineteenth century, handed to Vuillaume afterwards, named Red Diamond for its tremendous beauty, with the golden ratio of the canvas (the base varnish) spread over the surface as the name means, the violin will fascinate everyone that touches it.
The violin was made when the maker was already over 90 years old, which means the violin shows the most mature skills of the maker, who was still vigorous in making instruments at that time.
Its sound is graceful and robust. Its capacity is invaluable. Its power would surely amaze people. Sweet deep excellent sounds of the maker’s later years would fascinate audience in a big hall.
