Carlo Giusseppe Oddone 1924

He was praised as one of the most excellent violin makers in Turin in the 20th century as well as Giusseppe Rocca, and influenced Fagnola much.
He worked since young for Frederick William Chanau, who dealt in musical instruments in London. Afterwards, he came back to Turin to establish the innovative Piemonte-violin-making style which are characterized with precise making skills from Britain and France, merged with the warm-touching Italian tradition.
He made about 300 instruments in his life, each of which was labeled its identity number.
This is his 188th violin, made in 1924. He was awarded a medal in a violin-making competition for this violin and it was so-called a landmark of his violin-making career.
It can be said to be a piece of art of his golden period when his characters were expressed perfectly, with a well-balanced beautiful model, delicate purfling, wider edges, and beautiful transparent orange-yellow varnish.
Tones are clear, resonant, powerful and brilliant.
