Hannibal Fagnola 1905
Known as one of the most excellent makers in Turin, which saw the top prosperity of Italian violin making in the 20th century. He made precise copies of great violin makers from Turin, including Guadagnini, Pressenda, Oddone and Rocca, based on which he sublimated the tradition of Piemonte into his own character. One of his copies of Guadagnini was once judged as a genuine Guadagnini, which explains his impeccable skills of violin making.
In 1906, one year after his making this piece of work, he was awarded several prizes in the exhibitions in Genoa and in Milan, which opened the door to the world through W. E. Hill & Sons in London.
This piece of work was made in 1905, when his young enthusiasm was felt in his work most in his life.
This piece follows one of Rocca’s models. Its smooth arch is clad in deep orange-yellow varnish, and its tones are deep, powerful and brilliant.
It would be a good opportunity to meet a celebrated violin from Turin of the 20th century.
