Giuseppe Antonio Rocca 1864 (SOLD)

Guiseppe Antonio Rocca moved to Turin in 1834, and after studying at the master craftsman Pressenda’s atelier, he established his own atelier.
He was on friendly terms with Luigi Tarisio, the most successful stringed instrument dealer and collector of those days, and was deeply impressed by Stradivarius “Messiah” 1716 and Guarneri del Gesù “Alard” 1742 in Tarisio’s possession in those days, after which he made many copies of them all for the rest of his life.
Guiseppe Rocca passed away in 1865. One year before his death, very close to the last stage of his working days, this violin was made in Genoa in the pattern of Messiah, which he continued to make all his life.
Its preservation state is excellent. Anyone that sees or touches it will feel the richly experienced genius’s spirit.
With powerful and robust volume and deep tones, it can be said to be a masterpiece that meets a soloist’s desire in a large hall
